"Michael Leatherman was a prominent citizen of Jefferson Co., Ky. He was a
soldier in the Revolutionary War from May 1776 until Corwallis' surrender, and
had taken part in the battles of Long Island, White Plains, Brandywine and
Hagerstown. He was one of the founders of Jeffersontown, KY, and his home
still stands on Water Street of that city, the first house on the right as you
enter the street.
Peter Shrote bought a lot nearby, but Donald Sroat found no trace of a
home.
The Leathermans settled in Jefferstonwn in 1796, shortly after Catherine's
marriage to Peter Srote. It is presumed they lived in Fisherville in 1795 as
they owned property there."
