Dear Mr. McKnight:
I noticed your posting regarding the Sprott brothers on the 42nd
Alabama web page. My cousin, Louis Smith and I are annotating
Capt. Sprotts history of the 40th Alabama, which will be
published by University of West Alabama Press. We have been
seeking Sprott family members in hopes of coming up with
additional writings, and perhaps a war time image of the good
captain.
As an additional note, my gg grandfather, John W. Bradshaw, also enlisted in Co. A of
Armistead's Cavalry Regt., later transferring to Co. K as 2nd
Lt.Small world!
Any info regarding Sprott would be helpful.

John W. Bradshaw,
my gg grandfather, was initially a Sgt. in Co. A, then 2nd
Lt. of Co. K of Armistead's Regt. Though he is listed as mortally wounded in
Col. Spence's report on the Battle of Lafayette, Georgia (he was shot in the
abdomin and arm), he survived the war (he was at Johnson's Island). He died
on March 8, 1899, in Livingston, Alabama.
