Ocean Shores and Byron Bay
New South Wales, Australia
September 1999
Ocean Shores is a small town on the Pacific Coast at the very top of the state of New South Wales, which is just below the city of Brisbane, Queensland. The area is a hilly, lush, scenic, and sparsely populated. It is famous for the small tourist town of Byron Bay. If you look at a map of Australia, Byron Bay Point is the eastern most point of Australia.

From left:
Abby (16), Hosanna (18), Jan Smith and myself.

Inside their beautiful, very spacious, three bedroom apartment.

A lady with her daughters.
Note the photo behind them and see next photo.

Jan's son Joshua (21) in a photo of a surfing contest he won.
Currenty he lives is in Perth, Western Australia.

Hosanna and Mum.

Show and tell on my portable computer.

A view from their apartment in Ocean Shores looking out at the Pacific.
Now just how many of you have views of the ocean from where you live?

Byron Bay
Can you see all of the specks, i.e. surfers, actually surfing
in the middle of winter?

A look northward up the beach at Byron Bay towards Ocean Shores.

Abby and her Mum. Surfers in the background.

Me, I dressed for Hawaii, not Australia.

A lesisurly breakfast on the ocean.

Now Abby gets in the photo instead of taking it.

A little Byron Bay architecture.
If you speak to any Aussie about Byron Bay,
they will say that is where the hippies settled.

More Byron Bay architecture.

And more Byron Bay architecture.
Actually, Hosanna in front of her first day at a new store just opening.

Hosanna is really on the job now.
One of about 5 to 10 jobs she seemed to be holding down.

Out to eat in a restauraunt/hotel in Byron Bay.

Now I get to take the picture in the restaurant.

What's that in the background?
