It is not known where the Melodeon originally was from but it is thought that it came from the Plantation in Dublin, Mississippi owned by Mrs. Sadie Lee McKnight's mother, Mrs. Eula Hilliard.

This Melodeon was owned by Mrs. Sadie Lee McKnight and from 1942 to 1965, the Melodeon and was at her home at 156 Cherokee, Chickasaw Gardens, Memphis, Tennessee.

It was willed to Nola and Tom McKnight Jr. in 1964. The Melodeon resided from 1964 to 2006 at their home on Westminster Road in Memphis, Tennessee

It was given to Katherine Anne McKnight on April 11, 2006. Katie being the Great niece of Nola and Tom McKnight and lives at Manlius, New York. Katie is daughter of James and Chris McKnight, of Schuylerville, New York.
