| This was the Christmas before the Y2K scare (Year 2000). In the whole world there was enormous concern that because computers were such a part on daily lives running the airplanes, utilites, telephones, banks etc. that a computer programming problem handling the date rollover from 1999 to 2000 would cause world wide problems. Since Lee was a computer programmer working at FiServ, a company that wrote international banking software, he was required to stay near his work in Orlando, Florida just in case a Y2K problem came up and he would have to quickly return to his office in Orlando. As a result of Lee needing to stay near Orlando, the McKnights who normally gathered and celebrated their Christmases near Randy and Judy's home outside Washington D.C. in Falls Church, Virginia, all came to Palm Harbor to celebrate Christmas. Thus this was the first and only time that the Cowley family and the McKnight family were fortuante enough to celebrated Christams together. |
