My name is Valeta Johnsey Marcom, and I am the great-granddaughter of Asa Harris Johnsey who was a Private in Co. F, Annistead's Reg't of Cavalry, 12 Mississippi. I happened upon your website and appreciate so much the sharing of information contained there. In researching my family history, my cousin told me about Asa Harris Johnsey and his service. I would very much like to learn about the organization and history of the Cavalry, and would welcome any advice you would be willing to share with me about the best way to proceed. This is my first research effort relative to ancestors who fought in the War., and I hope to be able to make application to join the Daughters of the Confederacy. At this time I do not believe there was a pension record, his wife Louisa Derinda Bailey Johnsey remarried after the death of Asa in January of 1886. I have an ancestry.com subscription, and a search there produced no results.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Valeta Marcom
